Engagement Photo Session at the kingston harbour with Lonnie And Daedrie-Ann

This is actually a throw back blog post that just never got published for some reason. Late December of 2012 I was approached by a couple who wanted an engagement photo session prior to their January wedding. They gave me complete creative control, I was able to choose the Location and time that I’d prefer for the session which I honestly some times prefer. I Scouted a few days earlier and decided I’d use the Kingston Waterfront as I’ve seen some amazing sunrises there. As long as they were on time for 6am, everything should be perfect. Assisting was a friend of mine Mario Smith, he doesn’t shoot but he’s an excellent voice activated light stand *Grin*. Groom was early the bride cut it slightly close but everything fell into place as it should and the shoot was under way. The lighting was kept fairly simple as i tend to do on location. 1 light a relatively large diffuser and a speed light Boomed overhead and angled to my taste, Separation light was provided by The sun and it yielded amazing results. Recording Artiste Estelle

its one of those nothing goes right saturdays. where you had one assignment and then that quickly turned into three. you race to get to the assignment and it turns out to be a complete waste of time. its an annoying and frustrating day; but then a phone call comes in and the topic is international recording artiste Estelle who’s in jamaica for a few days for a performance at Pulse Jamaica’s Caribbean Fashion Week 2012. We need some photos of estelle for the outlook do you think you’ll be able to make that assignment. uhhhhh YESSS!!!!!! I wasn’t prepared for the photoshoot but these things happen and you just gotta make the best of what you got which was my sb 28 a lightstand and a really tattered umbrella *how embarrasing*. Anyway I raced to tuff gong studio’s which is where the she was doing her soundcheck for her performance at caribbean fashion week later that evening. I had about 15 minutes to get some images while she was being interviewed by a reporter. Her manager kinda made me feel a bit uncomfortable but he was just doing his job.. they were on a really tight schedule it seemed. she got interviewed I did my thing. My first impression of her is “she’s pretty normal”. I like that in a celeb. when you can speak to em and feel completely comfortable. I know its spilt milk but i reallly wish i had the appropriate gear and a little more time to crank out some solid work with her. That was a great portfolio opportunity that I didn’t get to maximize...

on assignment: Lafayette Brothers

Drove on up to their company Geddes Refrigeration LTD on spanish town road. the assignment was the usual grab some images during the interview. get some gesticulation and expressions and then wrap it up with a portrait of the twins. For the portrait I used a lil desk area in the office we used for the interview then after we were finished. I asked if it was okay to do a shot in the hall. Both came out really great so i guess its up in the air as which image will get used for the feature. I personally prefer the one in the office though, oddly enough the office space one felt more relaxed than the hall way portrait. read the article on em...
