With this JDF coast guard commander Hat comes great responsibility.

Two weeks ago I took my first trip to the Jamaica Defence Force  coast guard base of operations for an assignment for the paper. This visit I was under instructions to capture some images to accompany a story on the first female commander  in history of the JDF coast guard. the obvious images were the interview images while she was responding to the reporter for a sense of dialog.

Next was something to tie her to the “Commander” post that she know holds. I tried a few images in front of the ships, on one of the ships in the commander chair of the ship but nothing felt right.. and just as we were leaving i looked over my shoulder while she and the reporter conversed and realised that I was too close the entire time. I framed her in the middle surrounded by all the vessels docked in the background which made a way more interesting photo in my humble opinion.

Now here are two out takes that I made while she was doing her interview.. I liked the gesture the symmetry and how beautiful the hat is.
