My First Boudoir Photography Session

A few years ago a friend of mine slept over, don’t get hung up on the details thats not what’s important here -__-. I got up before she woke up to get some things done and figured may as well open the windows, let some fresh air and light in. After that I was heading out the room to the kitchen to get some water (morning ritual glass of water). Just before I left the room I looked back to see if me moving around woke her; Then I saw her laying there, the window light cascading off her back the first instinct I had was to get my camera, this so beautiful I thought. I ran to get my Canon Rebel XT at the time and mounted the nifty 50 as the light was just barely there as well as my room was a mess so I wanted the shallow depth of field to crush the clutter. As I went to take the first frame the etiquette of the situation bothered me, I didn’t have permission and I probably wouldn’t be able to share it with the community. After a few seconds of mental deliberation I took about 3 frames. I then Gently woke her up, explained the situation and asked permission. She was all for it and luckily she didn’t move either. I made a few more frames tweaking the exposure a bit till I got what I wanted. I worked on it the same morning finished it and invited her over to view the final image. She was blown away, I shared the photo to Flickr and it racked up about 68 comments, 41 favourites, a bunch of awards and group invitations. A few weeks later I made an 8 x 10 print for her got it matted and framed as her birthday gift and as a thank you for the opportunity to photograph you kinda deal. At the time I had no idea what kind of photography this was. It included a person so i figure still just people or portrait photography. After all I was just an amateur toying around with digital photography. Someone through the comments said something along the lines of Excellent Boudoir Photography Googled the term and realized what I’d stumbled into / onto which ever way you wanna put it. Eventually I did a second photoshoot with the same model which didn’t go as perfect because lets face it the initial image didn’t take much finessing it was just a perfect moment that I happened to notice and was smart enough to photograph. It took the help of the community for...

Boudoir Photography :: Body Scaping With Apple Sauce, Point and shoot or cellpone camera

I was having a convo the other day via fb or w/e instant messaging app i was using to talk with fellow photographer @ryanlueclarke. we were talking about the new awesomeness from apple the iPhone 4s and iOS5 anyway the conversation drifted to the inevitable Camera’s but we were talking about the need of a point and shoot or rather the lack for the need of a point and shoot in this day and age. because with the current cellphones on the market you really are able to push the camera’s on those suckers to the limit. coupled with the right applications in my opinion an iPhone completely kills the need for a point and shoot. I take photos on a daily basis with my iPhone 4 and 3GS before that and when I tell people I did that with my iPhone they tell me i’m joking. My personal Applications of choice for my iPhone photo needs are Instagram, Camera+ and the basic camera on the iPhone 4, and on the post processing side of things, I typically just use camera+ and for somethings Photoshop Express. I’ve dabbled around with Photogene but have never needed that much features as it provides. (overkill imho) Being a huge fan of Boudoir Photography I even attempted that with nothing but my iPhone and iPad as that was the camera and Lighting tools I had on me at the time. This photo above I did with my iPhone 3GS at the time post work was done in Photoshop express (blur, black and white conversion and border) and i used actual Photoshop on pc to add the gallery print border. tell me what you think of the output in the comments below, also do you think you still need a point and shoot with the advancement of image quality on today’s...

Boudoir Photography :: Shari

A week after Christina and Stacey,s boudoir photography session. I’m in the studio with shari. Shari has been doing some serious gym training and wanted some photos to show her progress. Of her features I think the beat were her legs her butt and her tummy. I focused on the legs and tummy though. The other areas is for another photo shoot. This shoot was done in like an hour. And the images were awesome, it was fast it was efficient and it was effective. M it would have been done faster if I didn’t do the first two concepts in jpg and have to reshoot in raw -_-‘. barring that little hiccup it was perfect. Post work there was pretty much non. Other than black and white conversion, sharpening, curves and level adjustments. There was zero retouching, all effects were done in camera as far as I wanted the image to look. I’ll share my favorite photo from this shoot. Shari definitely has a sexy tummy don’t you...
